History

In 1847, Johann Kirchler laid the foundation stone for future generations in Hintertux with the thermal baths. Over many years, a place for summer retreats, for those seeking relaxation in the thermal spring, but also for hiking and mountaineering tourism was created here. But that wasn't enough - big plans and a vision were on the horizon. The first ski lifts, the further development of tourism and much more were to come to Hintertux.

Unforgettable memories, thousands of guests and countless mountain moments later, it was time for a change. Together with extensive renovations in 2025, the former Der Rindererhof became today's VALARA Alpine Art Hotel. A hotel that honors the past but has the courage to embrace the new. Just like the two namesakes, the daughters of the hotel. The VA in our name stands for our daughter Vanja, who, in addition to studying art in Linz, also has a studio in Vienna, exhibitions in the subway and museums, and most recently the Gauder poster on her CV. Our second daughter, Lara, has turned the VA into VALARA and takes care of all the wishes and concerns of our hotel guests with passion and charm (which she inherited from her grandmother) as a trained hotel manageress.
